Lacking in storage perhaps?

This was the house last week.

The pictures really don't do the chaos justice!!

There was literally space to squeeze through to the lounge and this was just downstairs!!

The sofa and chairs are soon off to be upholstered and will be back before the end of November in their new guise (just in time for you Coupers to park your bums at Christmas!!) xx

Who lives in a bathroom like this?....

This is the en-suite.

It looks as if Big Foot or a yeti has been shoved under the bath!

This is the half-assembled sink unit which I mentioned a couple of posts back...It gets better though.
The furniture came out of storage today...let's just say Mum and Dad will probably be sleeping vertically tonight!
More pictures of madness to follow tomorrow!

Kitchen down (done!)...ensuite to go

Well, here they are. Without grout of course.

Yes dad, another pat on the back - kitchen tiles complete!

It's hard to get an idea of the colour of the tiles from these pictures. They look grey, however they have a slight purple tone to them. They're really nice, pretty much the colour of the bar wall.

There was some discussion over whether to stack them or stretcher bond as you'd tend to do with a subway tile. Steve was right though..they look better stacked! What do you think?

Hello......is anybody out there?!!!

I know...it's been a while and I will forgive you if you've lost interest and have taken up train spotting, but things are all go over at The Forever House...and yes, it seems like it's taken forever!!

The carpets have now arrived...

...and Ken 'the carpet' is working like a trooper!

I know I'm not the one who's had to live there for months, but it's so nice to see and feel something fresh underfoot.

Or underpaws!!! I think Larry approves!!

We've been on a tile hunt again, and the one on the right is going in the kitchen. The left is a possibility for the kitchen flooring and whilst I write this, dad should be knee deep in grout...well o.k, perhaps knee deep is a bit of an exaggeration!!!

Mum spotted these and thought they'd be great in the en-suite. I did too. They tie in so well with the wallpaper in their bedroom and seeing as they're at opposite ends of the room, it wouldn't be overkill! This was the 'fresh' bathroom option!

However, mum also spotted these too!

This is the 'opulent' bathroom option. Guess what....opulent won!

We figured the decor in the rest of the house was fairly light so decided to darken it down somewhat in the en-suite. The idea is to use a lovely rich cerise on the walls and to glitz it up a little with the metallic tile. If you look in the top right of the picture you'll see a sample of the material used to make the wardrobes. This has also been used to make a vanity which will be tiled on top alongside the countertop basin. I just love the combination of the wood effect and the metallic tile. What do you think?

She fell for it...

Yes, it made it onto the wall without any last minute indecisions!

Such a gorgeous illustrative wallpaper. Vergel by Tres Tintas.

The carpet has also been chosen.

This will be laid in all the rooms upstairs and on the stairs themselves.
Now just the en-suite, kitchen flooring/tiling and a few other little bits and pieces and then Bob's your uncle!!!

We're having a drink over here to celebrate!

Just to say a very HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to my lovely Auntie and Uncle down under!
Hope you both have a lovely day! xxx

While the dogs waited patiently outside....

Bonnie

...and Larry

...we all had a parquet party!

...well, of sorts. A couple of glasses of wine anyway!

You see. Eight months down the line...

...the Hunter's finally have a floor!

And a lovely one at that! Big cheers all round!

I'm sure mum and dad would agree the hours and hours spent cleaning blocks were worth it!

A few cheeky bits of rogue timber have revealed themselves...

but it all adds to the character I think!

It's amazing to see all the different shades to the timber.

Just one more fine sanding...

...and a final protective layer and it'll be job done. Here's to another hundred years parquet!

Today people...

This is what you'd be seeing if you were here at Briardene (well not this exact image seeing as it was taken a week ago) but yes, Mr Hunter has a smile on his face! Why? Because the parquet has finally been sanded!!!

Forget what I said yesterday, dad got his thinking cap on in the afternoon and managed to get another bloke to come out and do the job today, and pronto he did!!!

I'm not at Briardene myself, so I haven't actually seen dad's smiley face but I can tell it's smiley from talking to him over the phone. Yes, it's been a long time coming! The flooring that is, not dad's smile!

I'll get some pictures on here tomorrow night for you after its final sanding. You won't sleep tonight will you?! x

Remember this?

Think it's having serious repercussions!!

The latest - Sanding of the parquet has ground to an almighty halt (after 4 sq yards) as we are told the sanding pads are not abrasive enough for the job and are being worn down at a silly rate! So.....

The solution - More abrasive pads are being ordered but will take up to a week and then they can't come back to finish the job till nearer the end of the month!! At this present time,

Parquet + White Paint + Ian Hunter = Generally not a happy chappy. Oh dear!

He did break the miror though!
